"The 2014 Petit Verdot Apollo Drive Vineyard - Limited Edition was aged for 17 months in neutral French oak and comes in at 13.9% alcohol…This is a big Petit Verdot in terms of power. Unlike the Grand Vintage Cab Franc (also reviewed), it shows plenty of character, too, and gives evidence of further complexity to come. Nuanced with some olive flavors on the finish, all laced into the palate by the wine's power and acidity, this is both intriguing and filled with flavor. It's also really unevolved, so the late release should be welcomed. That may not be enough, as I've said before with regard to some of the 2014s here, but this should also age beautifully. When it comes around, it should be a perfect food wine--fresh, elegant and impeccably balanced. Granting that I don't have them side-by-side, this seems like a fine successor to the 2013, perhaps not quite as seductive, but perhaps equally intense and intriguing. It opened well, showing a little wood but fine fruit. Then, it tightened and became more brooding. This might even be better than the 2013.
